INDORE: Continuing its crackdown against bootleggers, Indore excise department on Friday nabbed two persons including a woman and seized illicit liquor worth over Rs 50,000.
According to ADM and assistant district excise commissioner
Rajesh Rathod, the team intercepted a two-wheeler, nabbed the rider and seized 150 quarters of country-made liquor from him. A case has been registered against him under section 34(1) of MP Excise Act 1915.
The excise department team carried out a search at one Sushila Bai’s house in Limbodi area and seized 22 quarters of country-made liquor.
According to senior excise officials, a list of habitual and notorious bootleggers has been prepared while a close watch on them is being kept. The excise department in a fortnight has registered around 600 cases against bootlegging. During this, the department seized illicit liquor worth Rs 2 Crore.
The crackdown against bootleggers will continue till November 30. This apart, the excise department has sought help of 11 departments in generating awareness for Nasha Mukti Abhiyan. TNN
