On two earlier occasions, the court granted or extended Soni’s remand. Police had arrested Soni on November 30 during a midnight raid at his residence on the complaint of suspended IMC executive engineer Harbhajan Singh, while his businessman father Jitu Soni is on the run since.
District prosecutor told the court that police had sent a team to West Bengal to ascertain the identity of 67 rescued women from My Home night club.
Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the rescued women and are trying to expose the chain of women trafficking, said district prosecutor.
The counsel of accused Ajay Bagadia said that the prosecution had been asking for police remand for the last three occasions on same grounds to ascertain the identity of rescued women.
The prosecution, however, failed to produce any evidence against Amit Soni in the court and are again demanding the extension of remand on same grounds, said Bagadia.
The court ordered judicial remand of the accused in cases registered under Section 394 and 191 of IPC for threatening the witnesses and providing false evidence respectively after the court allowed formal arrest.
