Hookahs and e-cigarettes seized, three held

INDORE: Crime branch police busted a hookah racket and arrested three persons in connection with this here on Wednesday.
On a tip off, crime branch officials had started a drive to check the illegal sale of hookah and intoxicants at local pan shops in Palasia area and more than 15 cases were registered into the matter.
Several hookahs and electric cigarettes being used by children at schools were also seized from the shops.After investigations it was revealed that one of the youths, identified as Ashish Jain, a resident of Vidisha, had come into contact with a local guy who introduced him to the pan vendors and he started selling supari in the area. Later, he expanded the business and contacted two other people Vishal and Indrajeet in the matter.
“Indrajeet used to bring in the items from Delhi, Vishal from Mumbai and Ashish used to help them in the business. All three have been arrested and booked under section 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of the IPC and further investigations in the case are on,” said Vinay Paul, ASP crime branch.
