Govt to hire private doctors at Rs 2250 for two hours on daily basis

: Health department has planned to recruit private MD doctors in government hospitals and health centres for two hours on daily basis. The department is likely to invite application on the first come first serve basis.


Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Pravin Jadia said, the decision was taken after noticing lack of specialist doctors in government hospitals. The doctors will be paid Rs 2,250 for two hours every day. “We are running short of specialist doctors in hospitals, including 14 urban primary health centres and 18 urban civil dispensaries, for which urban health has approved our request of recruiting private specialist,” Jadia said.

He added, “We will open a two-hour special OPD in each hospital, where these specialists will be available on one particular day of the week. Each doctor will be assigned a hospital and days will be fixed for their duty. However, if a doctor wants he can visit different hospitals on fixed days of the week.”

The department will recruit doctors on first come first serve basis. At present, it has planned to recruit 40 specialists including, paediatric, gynaecologists, ophthalmologist, dermatologist and medicine specialist. “We need at least 40 doctors. The qualifications that a doctor need to join this post is MD degree and MCI registration, if a doctor fulfils these two points, he can apply for this post,”Dr Jadia told TOI.

A notice inviting application for the post will be issued within a week by the department. Thereafter, the applications can be submitted at CMHO office. “The notice will be issued on

after which applications will be received and doctors will be selected. We have planned to start the special OPD by February month,” Dr Jadia said.
