Flight to Sharjah postponed for fifth time
Indore: The flight from Indore to Sharjah, which was slated to take off again on May 1, has been postponed for the fifth time. The postponement has reportedly been driven by a combination of geopolitical tensions and environmental factors. Airport officials said that the ongoing war in the Gulf region has created significant security concerns while record heat in both India and the Gulf has deterred leisure tourists and business travellers alike. The resulting drop in passenger bookings has led the airline to press the pause button for now. While bookings had briefly opened for May, the airline (Air India Express ) has now moved the resumption date to June, though industry experts remain sceptical about whether operations will actually commence by then. Some flights have been postponed on the domestic front too. Alliance Air, which was scheduled to start direct flights from Indore to Jalgaon and Delhi on May 2, has put the plans on hold. The suspension of Jalgaon flight means passengers still lack a direct link to the Maharashtra city from Indore while postponing another flight also removes a much-needed additional flight option to the national capital. An airline representative said that while the operations have been deferred, a new schedule will be announced soon.
