Five Pakistani persons in Indore get Indian citizenship

INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Friday handed over Indian citizenship certificates to as many as five refugees from Pakistan including a woman, who arrived in Indore four-decades ago.
As per the official records, the beneficiaries are Sangeeta w/o Sunil Kumar, who arrived in India in 2004, Geeta w/o Kapil Nanvani (1981), Piyush s/o Sacchanand Kamora (2016) and Akash s/o Sacchanand Kamora, who arrived in 1986.Among five persons, who were provided Indian citizenship, also include a married Muslim woman identified as Sadia Zuber.
“I am feeling very good. I was trying to obtain citizenship, but it was not working out so far for some reasons. My sister, who is around 48-years-old and brother (38), however, are yet to get citizenship of this country,” Geeta told reporters. She was born in Jacobabad in Pakistan on January 31, 1981 and was shifted to India on June 4 that year.
In the last four-decades, Geeta got married and ‘settled’ in Indore. She had applied for Indian citizenship at Indore collector’s office on September 9, 2015.
“So far, we have provided Indian citizenship to around 2,000 persons, who arrived from Pakistan while about 1,200 applications are under the process” ADM Pavan Jain told TOI.
