Indore: Five people were arrested in connection with a fatal shooting fueled by an old rivalry in Dewas. The attack, which occurred on the intervening night of April 16 and 17 in Bhavani Sagar area had left one man dead and another critically injured.
Nahar Darwaza police said the accused launched a pre-planned assault on Gautam Nath and his associate, Shubham using country-made pistols and sticks. Shubham died on the spot after being struck by gunfire, while Nath was undergoing treatment for two gunshot wounds on his leg.
During the investigation, police discovered a calculated attempt by the gang to mislead authorities. In an effort to file a false cross-report and confuse the sequence of events, the suspects intentionally shot one of their own accomplices, Varun Bali, in the leg.
A specialized team used technical evidence and informants to track down the suspects. The arrested 25-year-old Ritik Sihote, 20-year-old Siddharth, 24-year-old Varun Bali, 34-year-old Monu Sihote and 34-year-old Vipin Bali (34) were sent to jail.
The police stated that the primary motive was a long-standing personal grudge. While five suspects are in custody, a search was on to apprehend the remaining absconding accomplices involved in the attack.
