Fire breaks out at tent house warehouse, goods worth lakhs destroyed

Indore: A fire broke out at a tent house warehouse in busy Palasia Square area, destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees, on Tuesday night.

The blaze erupted at Ashok Tent House godown in Indore and quickly intensified, with flames and dense smoke billowing out of the premises within minutes.

The situation turned tense when smoke entered a nearby hostel building, forcing several students to vacate their rooms and move outside in fear. Eyewitnesses said the entire stretch was engulfed in smoke for some time, reducing visibility in the area.

After receiving information, fire brigade teams reached the spot and launched firefighting operations. Officials said the fire was brought under control using nearly one tanker of water, preventing it from spreading to adjoining structures.

A large quantity of material stored inside the warehouse was gutted in the fire. Preliminary estimates suggest losses worth several lakhs of rupees. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Police and fire department officials later inspected the warehouse premises to assess the extent of the damage. Locals said the area remained crowded for a long time as people gathered near the spot after noticing the flames. Officials said timely intervention by the fire brigade helped avert a major disaster, as the godown was located close to commercial establishments and residential buildings.

No casualty or injury was reported in the incident, though the fire completely damaged decorative items, fabric material and other equipment stored inside the warehouse.
