Farmer consumes pesticide over land demarcation dispute in Khargone

Khargone: A farmer on Monday consumed pesticide, alleging wrong demarcation of his land in front of the Naib Tehsildar office of Mandaleshwar in Khargone district.
Mandleshwar police station in charge Deepak Yadav told TOI, "On receiving information about farmer Sandeep Solanki consuming pesticide in front of the Naib Tehsildar office, he was taken to a local hospital, from where he was referred to the district hospital."
In a statement given to media persons at the district hospital, the farmer, Sandeep Solanki, alleged that his neighbour, farmer Mahendra Patidar, occupied the grazing land in his neighbourhood and it was being sold. Solanki said that he too grazed his animals on that land for many years.
He alleged that the patwari did a wrong demarcation of his land and he wandered for correction for many days. He said, "In response to my complaints, I was also taken to the police station a few days ago by the employees of the revenue department."
Denying the allegations, Mandleshwar SDM Anil Jain said that the land of the farmer's father was duly demarcated in January and a report was also given to them. He said that apart from occupying their own land, the farmer's family also illegally occupied govt land. He clarified that Mahendra Patidar does not have possession of govt land, nor was he given a lease. He said that the farmer took such a step to create unnecessary pressure on the administration.
The SDM said that a report was filed against the farmer at the Mandleshwar police station for misbehaving with the revenue officials, but he was let off after being counselled. He said that the farmer's condition is stable at the district hospital.
