Ex-husband, friend arrested for woman’s murder in Barwani

Barwani: Police have arrested a 25-year-old woman's former husband and his friend for allegedly murdering her and dumping her body in a well in the Anjad area of Barwani district.Anjad police station in-charge RR Chauhan told TOI that the accused -- Vishal alias Radhiya Kiraliya, the victim's former husband, and his associate Shankar Chauhan -- were arrested on Friday and produced before a local court, which remanded them to judicial custody.The case surfaced on Feb 23 after a decomposed body was found in a well in a field in Anjad. The woman was later identified as 25-year-old Monika. Police said mobile phone records led them to Vishal, who allegedly confessed during questioning.The couple had divorced six months ago but had recently resumed contact. Police said Vishal suspected Monika's character. On the day of the incident, he allegedly called her to meet, and after an argument, strangled her with her dupatta. He then allegedly sought his friend's help to dispose of the body in the well.
