Euro makes football fans of the city turn nocturnal
Indore: Until June 10 the city based businessman Siddharth Jain used to open his garment shop every morning at 10a.m. But, now, to watch and enjoy the late night telecast of the Euro Cup 2016 he remains awake till late night.
The Euro cup has changed his shop opening timing as after watching the match till late night he wakes up late than his regular schedule. He hasn't missed a single match of the Euro Cup 2016 till date.
"Now I am eagerly waiting for the Euro Cup semi-finals and finals. To watch the matches late night I have started opening my shop around 12," said Jain, who has also been a national level footballer earlier.
Likewise, many other football freaks in the city have been ardently following the Euro Cup 2016 for which they have made changes in their daily schedule and making it sure not to miss the football matches late in the night at any cost.
However, the college and school students have easily managed their timings by sleeping late in the morning and missing college and school classes, the working professionals have come up with tricks to seek some time out from the office during the morning hours.
"I had taken permission from my boss to come a little late to the office whenever my favourite teams, Portugal and France had their matches," said Himanshu Mishra, a football coach at a city based sports academy.
"My boss is also a sports lover and he understands my interest in football. To compensate for being late in the morning I make sure that I work for extra-hour in the evening," added Mishra.
Meanwhile, not only boys even the girl footballers in the city are keening watching the tournament and supporting their favourite teams.
Kanishka Khare, who is a class 11th student and one of the best footballers in her school football team, watches the Euro Cup along with her father, who is also a great football fan.
She says that for a few matches she was slept till late night and did not go to the school in the morning to sleep for more time.
"I can't miss the school daily, but I managed to miss my school for few important matches of the tournament. Even my father was ok with it so it was not much of a problem," said Kanishka while talking to the TOI.
Now, the football fans in the city are pumped up for the semi-finals and finals on July 7 and July 11 before the summit showdown.
