INDORE: Crime branch of city police arrested a computer engineering graduate and his electrician friend for murder of an elderly woman in Bhanwarkuan area late on October 15.
Sushila Rajwani, 53, whose son and daughter work in the Middle East, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in posh Samrat Ashok Nagar Colony in Bhanwarkuan area of the city on October 16 morning.
Autopsy of her body established death by strangulation.
Working on the case, crime branch cops recently picked up two youths
Yashpal Singh, 23 and his friend Rahul Patidar, 21, both natives of Hat Pipliya-Dewas.
While Yashpal is a jobless computer engineering graduate, Rahul is an electrician. Both were living on rent at a house near the deceased's house.
During police interrogation, the duo confessed to strangulating the woman and looting jewellery and cell-phone from her house to repay Rs 35,000 loan taken by them, from a private money lender in the past.
According to additional SP (crime) Dilip Soni, the duo entered the woman's house through an iron staircase railing on the intervening night of October 15-16 and made their way to the first floor of the house via a ventilator to get into her bedroom.
"The duo was searching for valuables in the woman's bedroom, when she suddenly woke up and tried to raise an alarm. At this, the duo strangulated her and slipped away taking with them her jewellery and cell-phone," Soni added.
The looted jewellery and cell-phone have been recovered from the arrested duo.
