INDORE: With prayers for peace, Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated with a great zeal and fervour in city on Tuesday.
The markets in different areas of the city were all open till late night on the festive occasion. Animals were sacrificed by families after offering morning prayers.
Sheher Qazi, Dr Ishrat Ali arrived at the Sadar Bazaar Eidgah on a bugghi. Collector P Narahari along with political leaders conveyed wishes to the community members on the occasion.
Special prayers were offered at different mosques of the city including Khajrana, Gwaltoli, Chandan Nagar, Badwali Chouki, Azad Nagar etc. At all the major Eidgahs of the city, the timings for the prayers were different.
Due to a large stock of animals in Indore's markets, their sale continued on Eid till evening. The last minute price of a 20-kg goat was around Rs. 10,000 making it tough for families, who earlier did not buy goats for qurbani. The breeders and sellers from around the city refrained from exporting their animals to other cities as many goats died during transportation last year, a breeder informed.
