INDORE: The 32-year-old woman, who was found half-burnt and gasping for breath on a farmland in Sonkatch of Dewas with the body of her father, succumbed at MY Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
A 60-year-old man, Mahesh Upadhyay and his daughter Rajni, residents of Shivpuri, were reportedly attacked by Rajni’s husband Vishal Vyas, on their way back to Indore.
Vishal had gone to Shivpuri along with his two friends to bring Rajni back to Indore.
Mahesh was found semi-nude and police believe his head was smashed with a stone. Rajni had serious injuries on her neck, face and torso. Investigators believe that a group of men brought the duo in a car and dragged them to the farm late on Monday to kill them.
Police on Wednesday sent out teams to several areas in search of the accused Vishal and his two friends Sunny Gupta and Suraj Singh Thakur. Officials were interrogating relatives of the accused to know about his whereabouts.
“The mother of the suspect told us the entire story. She said that while he was on his way to Shivpuri he had dropped her at a relative’s place in Sonkatch and was supposed to pick her up while returning to Indore,” said Sonkatch police station in charge Rajendra Chaturvedi.
He said that the woman has not been able to give out much detail about his whereabouts. The family members of the two accomplices were also being questioned.
Gupta’s parents told police that they had thrown him out of the house three years ago because of his activities.
The family members of the victims alleged that Vishal and his kin had been harassing them for dowry since beginning.
