No new late night flight this winter, airport reschedules ops
Indore: Flight operations at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport were rescheduled as part of winter timetable and essential runway maintenance work by Feb 15. Now, the flights will operate from 6am to 11:55pm. The airport management has been planning a major maintenance work at the airport for over a decade, as it is a routine procedure to ensure the runway's safety and efficiency. To facilitate uninterrupted maintenance work, the airport has informed all airlines well in advance, leading to adjustments in flight schedules. As a result, no new late night flights have been introduced, and existing ones have been rescheduled.Official sources revealed that the runway maintenance will be carried out in six-hour shifts to minimise disruption to flight operations. During the maintenance period, the runway will be completely closed to air traffic. But airport terminal operations will continue as usual. The last flight departing from Indore before the midnight closure will be to Sharjah, scheduled to take off at 11:55pm. The Bengaluru flight, originally scheduled to arrive at 12:20am, has been advanced by an hour. Morning flights will resume at 6am.Indore airport has introduced new direct flights to Pune and Chennai, operating three times a week, from Monday. This will provide passengers with more convenient travel options to these cities. Previously, only one daily flight was available to each destination. While the runway maintenance may cause temporary inconvenience to passengers, the airport management has taken steps to minimise disruptions. By informing airlines well in advance, and adjusting flight schedules, the airport authority aims to ensure a smooth transition during the maintenance period.
