Indore: Clear skies led to a sharp rise in day temperature in the city with the maximum touching 32.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, two degrees above normal.Just a day earlier, the city recorded 31.6degrees Celsius, reflecting a steep seven degrees increase within 24 hours after clouds dispersed. On Friday, the day temperature dropped to 24.6 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal, highlighting the sudden shift.
The rise followed a brief spell of cloud cover and rain that brought temporary coolness. With the sky clearing, strong sunshine prevailed through the day, and residents experienced noticeable warmth during the afternoon hours. By 5:30 pm, the temperature stood at 29.8 degrees Celsius. North-westerly winds were recorded at 17 kmph, with gusts reaching 32 kmph, according to Meteorological centre.Night conditions, however, showed a slight dip. A trough at 0.9 km runs through Tamil Nadu and Karnataka into central Maharashtra. In addition, a subtropical westerly jet stream at 12.6 km altitude is positioned over north-east India, with wind speeds of 95 knots. Satellite imagery indicates no significant cloud formation over Madhya Pradesh at present.Arun Sharma from Bhopal Met centre said the weather across the state remains clear. He noted that isolated rainfall and thunderstorm activity are likely on Monday in districts including Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Umaria, Anuppur and Shahdol. From Feb 24 to 26, conditions are expected to remain mainly clear, with no major change in minimum or maximum temperature over the next five days.
