DAVV to introduce expert re-evaluation of answer sheets
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has decided to introduce an additional expert-level re-evaluation layer for answer sheets of professional courses, including MBA, BEd and law programmes, a move aimed at restoring student confidence and improving result accuracy. The decision comes in response to repeated concerns raised by students over discrepancies in evaluation and unexpectedly low pass percentages in recent results. University officials said that the new system was designed to make the assessment process more transparent, consistent and reliable.Under the revised mechanism, answer sheets will not only be checked by examiners but will also undergo a second level of scrutiny by subject experts. Dedicated panels comprising experienced academicians will be formed across faculties, with each team reviewing already evaluated copies to ensure marking accuracy and eliminate possible errors. The issue gained attention after recent results, where only 43 percent of students cleared the BEd first semester examination, while the pass percentage in MBA core courses dropped to nearly 27 percent. Several student groups questioned the evaluation process and demanded rechecking through sampling, alleging improper assessment.DAVV examination controller, Dr Ashesh Tiwari, said, "Answer sheets were earlier evaluated more than once, but the absence of a structured expert filter led to delays and dissatisfaction after result declaration. The new system is expected to address these concerns before results are published, thereby reducing post-result disputes and protests."University authorities acknowledged that the additional review stage may slightly delay result announcements. They, however, emphasised that ensuring fairness and accuracy was a priority, particularly for professional courses where results play a crucial role in academic progression and career opportunities.
