DAVV splits PG exam schedule, final semester from April 1

Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has revised its postgraduate examination schedule. It has decided not to conduct second and fourth semester exams together this year. The university will begin final semester examinations from April 1. Second semester examinations are likely to be held from May 12 or later creating a gap of over a month between the two.Traditionally, both semesters either commenced on the same day or within a short interval of a week. The new approach marks a significant shift aimed at ensuring timely completion of courses, especially for final year students. Prioritising final semester exams will help students of conventional PG programmes complete their courses on schedule, examination controller Ashesh Tiwari said."We have prioritised final semester examinations this time to ensure that postgraduate students complete their courses on schedule. The second semester exams will follow in May. Detailed timetable will be released shortly," he saidThe upcoming examinations will cover a wide range of courses, including MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, BEd and LLB fourth semester students. Around 31,000 candidates are expected to appear, of which nearly 16,000 belong to traditional PG courses and about 8000 are MBA students.To maintain transparency and curb unfair practices, the university will deploy 50 observers across examination centres. Each centre will have one or a maximum of two observers, in whose presence question papers will be opened, ensuring strict monitoring throughout the process.Uncertainty continues over the undergraduate first year examination scheduled to begin from May 12. While the university maintains that the 70:30 marking pattern is in place, colleges have raised concerns regarding the absence of a defined syllabus for practical examinations. With less than two months remaining, lack of clarity has added to the anxiety among students and institutions alike.
