DAVV dissatisfied with ragging report, forms five-member probe panel

anti-ragging committee, the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) administration constituted a five-member panel to re-investigate the ragging incident that had reported at the aforesaid college. The five-member panel headed by

of students’welfare department Prof. L K Tripathi will record statements of the victim student

Shivam Panwar

and his family members on Friday to reach any conclusion in the matter.

Dean, students’ welfare department, Prof. L K Tripathi said, “Varsity has constituted a five-member panel to reinvestigate the ragging incident. We will record victim’s statement on Friday.” On September 10, varsity administration had asked the college management for a report at the earliest. After the varsity directives, college management handed over the matter to its anti-ragging committee. It was later realised that the students who ragged Shivam Panwar were students of the college even as the college principal initially denied that the students involved in ragging were not his students.

Chhatripura police have booked the accused,

Arpit Dhiman

and three others, under IPC sections 341, 294, 506 and 34. First semester B Com student, Shivam Panwar had recently taken admission in Maheshwari College located in

Chhatribagh

. The 21-year-old youth was beaten up, branded on his back with burning cigarette butts and forced to strip. Fed up with the on-going harassment caused by his seniors, the youth decided to leave the city. He was later tracked down to Indore railway station.
