INDORE: The Indore Crime Branch arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly smuggling MD drugs into the city.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said the accused, identified as Abhimanyu Rajput, a resident of Sonkatch in Dewas district, was found in possession of 12.68 grams of the banned synthetic drug.
Acting on confidential inputs, the Crime Branch had intensified surveillance against individuals involved in the illegal drug trade across Indore.
During a routine inspection under the Bhandari Bridge, officers noticed a suspicious man who appeared nervous upon seeing a government vehicle.
He was immediately stopped and questioned. Upon interrogation, the man revealed his identity and confessed to purchasing drugs at low rates and selling them at higher prices to drug addicts in the city, with the intent of making quick money.
Rajput, who works in the transport segment of the event management industry and has studied up to class 12, admitted to being involved in the narcotics trade for financial gains.
The seized contraband, MD drugs weighing approximately 12.68 grams, has been confiscated. A case has been registered against him under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act. Further legal proceedings are underway based on the ongoing investigation.
