INDORE: With three out of five inter-school tournament titles in their kitty, students of Christian Eminent School's cricket team are hot favorites when they partake in any local school level competition.
"Our students' performances have made us popular. The school has carved out a niche for itself when it comes to inter-school cricket tournaments,'' said Gertrude Olga, director, Christian Eminent School.
"We have won three out of five inter-school tournaments," she said adding that the school has also been performing well at Indore divisional level where they have had a fair success rate.
The students are now practicing for the All India Tournament to be held in Delhi from April 22. "We will be representing Madhya Pradesh," said coach
Santosh Nair. So far, the school has won 32 trophies including the prestigious Coca Cola Trophy on two occasions.
Christian Eminent School Cricket Academy formed in 2011is a symbol of the school's commitment towards promoting cricket talent. Hard work coupled with a proper training is the key to team's success. "The students undergo training for at least six hours daily. Apart from teaching them the technicalities of game, we also make it a point to inculcate the spirit of a true sportsman," said the coach.
"It is a great feeling to be a part of the winning team. But there also are bitter memories of losing. It was a tough loss to Uttar Pradesh in one of the finals. Although, failures do teach us a lesson or two,'' said a student Pushpraj Rajput, member of the school's talented cricket team.
