Indore: Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that a mini airport would be established in Burhanpur to enhance regional connectivity.
To empower local farmers, the CM said that the district would host an agriculture-based regional industry conclave. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between farming and industrial processing, particularly for the district's renowned banana and cotton sectors, he said while sanctioning the setting up of specialized value-addition, storage, and processing units. He also approved payment of outstanding dues for workers of Burhanpur Cooperative Yarn Mill.
The CM held a roadshow from Shikaripura to Nehru Stadium, where he inaugurated and laid foundation for 80 projects worth Rs 696.37 crore. These include a critical care unit at the district hospital and new powerloom clusters. He also announced that Shahpur Municipal Council would be upgraded to a Municipality.
During the event, MLA Archana Chitnis proposed renaming Burhanpur to ‘Brahmpur' and including Shahpur in the ‘Ramachandra Gaman Path.'
Earlier, in Khandwa, the CM transferred Rs 1,836 crore as the 33rd instalment of Ladli Behna Yojana into the accounts of 1.25 crore women.
Addressing the gathering, he announced a Rs 5,000 incentive for cotton industries employing women, reinforcing his vision to make Nimar a leader in both irrigation and industrial employment.
