Indore: The civil engineering department of Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS) has secured accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) till Dec 2028, a development expected to directly benefit students in terms of academic quality and career prospects.
For students, the accreditation serves as a formal assurance that the programme meets national standards. It strengthens the credibility of their degree, improving acceptance for higher studies in India and abroad while also enhancing placement opportunities. Recruiters often prefer graduates from accredited programmes since it reflects structured training aligned with industry expectations.
The accreditation process involved a detailed review of teaching methods, infrastructure, faculty expertise, and student outcomes. The department's strong laboratories, experienced faculty, and industry engagement were cited as key strengths. For students, this translates into better practical exposure, updated curriculum and a learning environment focused on real-world applications.
Director Neetesh Purohit said, "The recognition strengthens our resolve to produce competent engineers who contribute meaningfully to national development, underlining the institute's focus on student outcomes."
The timing is significant as India expands infrastructure under initiatives like the
Smart Cities Mission, increasing demand for trained civil engineers. Students graduating from the programme are expected to find wider opportunities in both public and private sectors.
SGSITS has also increased intake to 120 seats, including a Hindi-medium batch, widening access while maintaining quality standards.
