Indore: Indore’s Roli Pathak, a 21-year-old rising star has brought honour to the city on global stage, as she represented the nation in Volleyball at the prestigious World University Games 2023, held in China earlier this month. Stepping foot in her hometown recently, Roli was met with a heart warming reception from her family and friends. They gathered at the Indore airport with vibrant dhol beats and garlands, celebrating the arrival of their budding sports sensation.The World University Games mark Roli’s maiden venture onto the international sports scene, a testament to her unwavering dedication to the sport.

Her remarkable journey began in 2018 when she embarked on her training at the Khelo India Centre in Kerala. With an unyielding aspiration to secure a place on the senior Indian national team, Roli practices 8 hours a day tirelessly, dedicating herself to the sport she loves.
As a formidable attacker in the team, her dynamic presence on the court has been instrumental in India’s volleyball endeavors. Roli’s remarkable achievement came to fruition after rigorous selection trials at Kerala University, where she was handpicked to represent India at the World University Games. Following her selection, she joined her fellow teammates in a national camp held in the vibrant city of Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, before setting off for the grand stage in China.While in China, the Indian team engaged in spirited battles against formidable opponents, including China, Italy, Chinese Taipei, and Colombia. Despite their valiant efforts, victory eluded them.
