Chilling home delivery: Indore woman opens parcel to find pistol and death threat
INDORE: In a chilling incident from Indore's Dwarkapuri area, a local resident reportedly received a parcel packed with a countrymade pistol while also carrying a death threat, prompting a high-priority police investigation. Authorities cautioned citizens to be extremely vigilant when accepting deliveries from unknown persons in light of this incident.
The victim, identified as Manisha Patel, reported that an unknown youth delivered a parcel to her home at approximately 7.30 am on Monday. Assuming it was a routine delivery, Patel opened the package, only to find a pistol, which was later determined to be illegal, and a threat letter.
The suspicious package sparked immediate panic, as Patel's screams alerted family members and neighbours, who rushed to the spot and reported the delivery to Dwarkapuri police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anand Kaladgi revealed that the letter contained a specific warning concerning the family and its well-being.
Warning note with gun triggers forensic probe
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Anand Kaladgi revealed that the letter contained a specific warning concerning the family and its well-being. "The message in the letter read that the complainant's family had amassed a lot of wealth, warning of an attack," DCP Kaladgi said, adding that an FIR was registered in the matter.
The police seized both the pistol and the parcel for detailed analysis. The ongoing probe is focussed on determining whether the pistol is functional or a replica, for which it was sent for forensic examination.
Police teams were reviewing CCTV footage around the Dwarkapuri area to identify the suspect and track his movement. They were also going over the sender's details and the logistics path of the package. The sleuths said they were also probing if the act was the result of an old grudge or a conspiracy designed to intimidate the family.
