Central Command Sailing Regatta ends on sportsmanship note at Bercha lake

Mhow: The 22nd edition of the Central Command Sailing Regatta conducted by the Army War College (AWC) under the aegis of Central Command concluded at Bercha lake in Mhow on Friday. The regatta featured multiple competitive sailing categories, including enterprise class sailing and kayak singles and doubles, which saw contestants displaying their technical skills and sporting spirit.Golden Key Division emerged as overall champions in the enterprise class sailing event, while the Uttar Bharat Area team emerged as the overall winner in kayaking (singles) and kayaking (doubles). Infantry School commandant Lt Gen Gajendra Joshi and AWC commandant Lt Gen HS Sahi were the distinguished guests at the event, while Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) deputy commandant Maj Gen Gautam Mahajan and AWC dean Maj Gen Jitendra Singh were the special guests. The dignitaries felicitated the winners and gave away prizes and trophies.
In his closing address, Lt Gen Joshi commended the participants for their exemplary sportsmanship and emphasised the importance of adventure sports in nurturing leadership qualities, along with camaraderie.An AWC press release stated that the annual regatta is conducted to coincide with the Joint Capsule of the Higher Command Course conducted at AWC. This year's regatta events saw participation from 77 members of the Army, Navy and Air Force.The highlight of the event was young, budding officer cadets of MCTE competing with fervour and enthusiasm against seasoned professionals. To ensure that the regatta was not only about serious competition, soldiers and their families participated in the adventure kayak and paddle boat races, which drew loud cheers and applause from the audience.
