Barwani: Police registered a case against a woman sarpanch, her husband, and the panchayat secretary for embezzlement of Rs 85 lakh in Barwani district.Pati police station incharge Rohit Patidar told TOI that a case of embezzlement of govt money was registered against woman Sarpanch Sadiya Bai (Gram Panchayat Semlet under Janpad Panchayat Pati), her husband, a vendor Umrao Singh Solanki, Panchayat Secretary Tulsiram Saste, and six other vendors.Their accounts were also frozen.He said that a case was registered against them under section 318 (2), 318 (3), 316 (5), 336 (2), 336 (3), 340 (2), and 61 (2) of BNS.The villagers of gram panchayat Semlet complained about the embezzlement of the amount for construction work by making fake bills in the public hearing. Following this, the Chief Executive Officer of
Barwani District Panchayat, Kajal Jawala, inspected the spot and directed the Chief Executive Officer of Rural Engineering Services, Project Officer, and Accounts Officer District Panchayat to inquire into the complaints.The complaints were found to be correct, and misuse of about Rs 85 lakh 74 thousand 189 was discovered. These so-called construction works were not found on the spot or were of poor quality in some places, while the entire amount was withdrawn.Apart from this, action was taken against the woman Sarpanch for removal from the post, and a recovery case was registered against Panchayat Secretary Saste and Village Employment Assistant Saidam Kharte under the MP Panchayat Raj Act.
