Indore: A 75-year-old man was drugged and robbed by his caretaker in Gumashta Nagar. Police said that the accused identified as Yash Bansal from Firozabad, allegedly fled with gold ornaments worth several lakhs.
The incident was reported from Dwarakapuri area. The victim, Omprakash Moongad, is unable to move without assistance and his regular caregiver, Dilip Singh from Rajgarh, was on leave. This had prompted the family to arrange a temporary replacement through an agency operator, Umrao Singh.
According to police, the accused had been hired for a 10-day period. On Sunday, he allegedly executed a pre-planned act by mixing intoxicants into the victim's food. Once the elderly man lost consciousness, the accused escaped with a gold chain, bracelet and other valuables.
During the spot inspection, police recovered traces of intoxicating substance along with food items, which have been seized as evidence. Preliminary tracking of the accused's mobile location placed him first in Dewas and later moving towards Rajasthan.
ACP Shivendu Joshi said that the police teams have been dispatched to multiple locations to track him down. The agency operator who facilitated the hiring has also been called in for questioning.
