INDORE: A businessman was looted of Rs 1.5 lakh when he was about to open his shop in the Siyaganj area in the city on Thursday morning. After committing the crime, the hoodlums locked the businessman in bathroom for some half an hour so that the victim could not raise the alarm and fled the spot. The police immediately blocked the main exit and entry points to the area, but could not trace the culprits.
Businessman Kailash Agrawal, 53, who went to open the shop on encountering three unidentified persons and objected to their presence at the time of opening the shop. However, they did not heed him and forced their entry into the shop.
Son of the victim Sachin Agarwal said three unidentified persons entered the shop forcefully. "One of them gagged my father and held him at the knife point and demanded the money from him," Sachin said, adding that his got frightened and handed over the money to them. "After having taken the money, the hoodlums fled the spot, with money," he added.
Sachin said, "My father was locked in the washroom for half-an-hour so that hoodlums can make an easy escape from the shop." They got to know about the incident at around 11 am. Businessman Kailash Agrawal is the owner of shop number 17 in Balmukund Bhavan.
Police said even before the businessman could make out what was going on, the miscreants looted the money and locked him in the washroom. Agarwal shouted for help after the miscreants left the place, but in vain. However, after one hour, shopkeepers came and heard the voice.
They told the police about the incident and subsequent to it, the police cordoned off the area but to no avail. The police lodged the FIR under Section 394 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
