Indore: A passenger bus on way from Bori to Indore veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch in Dhar district on Wednesday after its windshield was shattered by stones pelted by unidentified persons near a toll point in Ringnod area.
As the front glass cracked instantly under the impact of stones, the driver got disoriented and lost control of the vehicle leading to the accident which triggered panic among passengers.
More than 30 people sustained injuries, with six of them reported to be in serious condition including the driver Manish Mujalda.
Police and ambulance teams rushed to the spot. The injured were shifted to civil hospital in Sardarpur and some private hospitals in Rajgarh, where they are undergoing treatment.
Senior officers, including SDOP Vishwadeep Singh Parihar and station in-charge Anil Jadhav, reached the hospital to assess the situation and speak to the injured.
SDOP Vishwadeep Singh Parihar said that efforts were on to identify those involved in the stone-pelting, and the exact sequence leading to the crash was under investigation. A team is attending to the injured and informing their families.
