INDORE: Showing exemplary courage, a 50-year-old advocate Rajesh Joshi managed to catch hold one of two knife wielding burglars, who were fleeing after ransacking property from his house in Sudama Nagar locality here on Monday.
The incident took place at around 5.30 am at Joshi’s single-storey house in Sudama Nagar Sector-E.
Hearing his dog bark, Joshi came out of his room and spotted two men trying to flee through the vacant adjacent residential plot with building and sanitary material. He first raised an alarm and chased the fleeing burglars with a stick in hand. While two burglars managed to escape with some property, one burglar tried to attack Joshi with a knife.
Not petrified by the knife brandishing burglar, Joshi confronted him and managed to catch hold of him.
“I managed to catch hold of him, by when other neighbours woke up and surrounded the place. Along with neighbours, I made the 26-year-old burglar Gulrez, a resident of Chandan Nagar, ring one of his two aides over phone and asked him to return, but he didn’t return,” Joshi told TOI.
Annapurna police sub-inspector Ajay Palle said the arrested burglar has been booked under Section 380 and 457 of IPC and search is on for his aide, who is on run.
