BJP's biggest victory, highest votes for NOTA on cards at Indore Lok Sabha seat

INDORE: Indore Lok Sabha seat, as expected, is all set to make three records as counting of votes polled for this prestigious seat started from 8 AM and by 14th round of counting, BJP’s candidate got 10.88 lakh while NOTA inched close to the mark of 2 lakh votes.

As expected, BJP broke its record of receiving highest 10.68 lakh votes from Indore Lok Sabha seat in 2019 while Lalwani, who had won last general election by 5.47 lakh votes, managed to cross his victory’s margin by around 10.40 lakh only in 14th round of counting while five rounds of counting was still to complete.

Similarly, NOTA which had received less than 1% votes (5,045) of the margin of victory of BJP candidate Shankar Lalwani by 5.47 lakh votes (from the nearest candidate of Congress), managed to receive 1.89 lakh votes by 14th round of counting. Earlier, the record for highest number of votes for NOTA was 51,660 votes received from Gopalganj seat of Bihar while this option available on EVM had got 45,609 votes in West Champaran seat.

Similarly, BSP candidate Sanjay Solanki got around 45,000 votes by 14th round of counting. With this, BSP is also set to make its presence felt after a very long time as the party had secured only 8,666 votes in 2019, 7,422 votes in 2014, 7,226 votes in 2009 and 10,331 votes in 2004 Lok Sabha elections at Indore seat.

However, none of the candidates in the fray, except BJP, is expected to save their security deposit as they are still way behind from obtaining 1/6 share of votes polled as mandatory for it.
