BHOPAL: Bharatiya Janata Party today kicked off a campaign from Madhya Pradesh to protest against the arrest of its leaders in the cash-for-vote scam, terming the arrest of whistleblowers as an insult to the world's largest democracy.
"Whistleblowers are languishing in jail while those who benefited due to bribery are enjoying the fruits of power," leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said at the 'Jan Aakrosh' rally organised by the state unit of the BJP to protest against the arrest of former union minister Faggan Singh Kulaste in the cash for vote scam.

She claimed that BJP MPs, including tribal leader Faggan Singh Kulaste, scheduled caste leader Ashok Argal and Mahavir Singh Bhagora, had in fact tried to expose the Congress which hatched a plan to bribe MPs to secure their votes to win the confidence vote in the Lok Sabha. "The rally is aimed at building up a public opinion to secure the release of Faggan Singh Kulaste and others", she added.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the tribal communities had been insulted due to the arrest of Kulaste, as his action was aimed at exposing the Congress. He said that the UPA government at the centre and the Delhi police have colluded to falsely implicate these leaders in the cash-for-vote scam.
State BJP president and Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha said that the BJP had always fought for the rights of tribals. He said resentment was brewing among the tribals because of the wrong policies of the Congress and it would definitely reflect in the next elections.
