Indore: In the second phase of indirect elections for chairman and vice-chairman posts, BJP-supported candidates claimed victory in majority of the districts in Indore and Ujjain divisions, while
Congress backed candidates won in Dewas district.
In Dhar, BJP-supported candidates won 10 out of total 13 posts of Janpad Panchayat chairman while remaining three posts were claimed by candidates backed by Congress.The BJP- supported candidates made a clean sweep by winning all seven Janpad Panchayat president posts in Barwani district.
The party-supported candidates also won six out of nine post in Khargone janpads.
In Barwani Janpad Panchayat, BJP-supported Gunti Bai was declared elected as president. Cabinet Minister Prem Singh Patel told reporters that this was the first time after Independence that Congress was defeated here. TNN
