INDORE: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Dr Mohan Yadav appreciated Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for achievements in cleanliness year after year during Mazdooron Ka Hit Mazdooron ko Samarpit programme in the city.
Yadav was addressing a gathering in a programme to hand over cheque of Rs 218 crore dues to Hukumchand Mill workers, who fought a 32-year-long legal battle for their rights.
“I am aware about challenges faced by a mill workers’ family. I am a son of a mill worker. In case of closure of mills, the workers' families face tough situations,” he said adding “On most occasions, the workers' dues matter gets stuck in courts. The Vinod Mill issue in Ujjain was one such matter that was resolved by a broad vision of the government. It was the first such matter resolved in the state.”
“Moving ahead in that direction, former MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, people’s representatives from Indore and worker union leaders worked towards settlement of the issue,” he said.
“With approval from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the road for providing rightful dues to 4,800 workers is completed,” Yadav said thanking the PM. He also remembered former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary.
The chief minister said, “Vajpayee’s primary education was from a school in Badnagar of Ujjain. Former PM tried to give his first speech in school there and he was fond of chaat of Chhappan Dukaan. He even claimed himself as a ‘Malwi’.”
He also remembered Devi Ahilya Bai for her religious work to renovate and develop religious places across the country during Muslim rule. He has further said it has been a matter of pride that Indore is among the fastest growing cities of the world.
Yadav during his address said that BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya is not only everybody's but his leader also. He said that give Vijayvargiya any challenge; he would overcome it for the party.
Addressing the gathering, Vijayvargiya appreciated the new CM for his sensitivity to hold the first public programme for giving dues of mill workers. He said that being the son of a mill worker, CM Yadav understood your pain.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava gave details of the Jalood solar plant and mill worker due issue and thanked everybody from people’s representatives to worker union leaders to the court for resolving this long pending issue.
He also sought opportunity for Indore to host events of Olympics, as envisaged by PM Narendra Modi, and demanded construction of an international stadium, sports academy, ground for wrestling.
