Auto driver arrested for stealing jewellery from tourist

Indore: An auto driver was arrested on a charge of stealing a tourist’s bag containing jewellery worth Rs 90,000 when she was at Chhappan Dukan on Monday. “The theft took place last Wednesday, when Marjeena Bee (48), a resident of South Andaman, had boarded an auto from Ujjain to Indore, and went to Chhappan Dukan between 10 pm to 10.30 pm. She left her bag inside the auto while visiting shops in the market. She later found her bag missing,” Tukoganj police station in-charge Jitendra Yadav said. TNN

Driver pushes man off auto

An auto driver in Kolkata allegedly forced a passenger off his auto after the passenger protested against the driver picking up a fifth passenger. The incident occurred near Ultadanga bridge. The police maintain a strict vigil in the area and do not allow extra passengers. In a separate incident in Kochi, an auto driver was arrested for a hit-and-run case resulting in the death of an elderly woman. The driver repaired his vehicle instead of helping the victim.
