INDORE: The brother of a police officer, who was shot at by inspector Hakam Singh Panwar at Indore police control room before he died by suicide, succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital in Indore on Thursday.

His family says he got burnt by accident but police suspect immolation.

The victim, Kamlesh, was with his sister and Inspector Panwar minutes before Panwar shot at her and died by suicide on June 24. Police said that on Tuesday night, Kamlesh got burnt in Sanjay Nagar of Dhamnod in Dhar. He was referred to Indore on Wednesday night. “He died of burn injuries and the matter is being investigated. We cannot say yet if it was self-immolation or accident,” Dhar SP Aditya Pratap Singh said.

The family told the police that Kamlesh suffered severe burns while cooking in the kitchen. He was taken to hospital in Dhamnod and then to Indore.
