ASI caught taking bribe in Khargone
Khargone: Lokayukta police on Friday caught an assistant sub-inspector posted at Kasrawad police station in Khargone district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000.Lokayukta (Indore) Superintendent of Police Rajesh Sahay said that the complainant, Shyamlal Upadhyay (69), a farmer from Chandawad village in Bhagwanpura tehsil, lodged a complaint alleging that the ASI was demanding Rs 20,000 to settle a complaint filed against him by a Kasrawad resident, Rajesh Bagadre.After verification, the complaint was found genuine, and a trap team was constituted. The team laid a trap at Kasrawad bus stand and apprehended the ASI while he was accepting Rs 7,000 from the complainant.The complainant told mediapersons that the accused initially demanded Rs 20,000, claiming a portion of the bribe was to be paid to the Kasrawad police station in-charge. The deal was later settled at Rs 10,000, of which Rs 3,000 was already paid on Thursday as the first instalment.On being asked about the allegation involving the police station in-charge, SP Sahay said no evidence has been found against him so far. He added that if any involvement emerges during the investigation, appropriate action will be taken.A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
