Amid resistance, MGM College to hold counselling from today

INDORE: Amidst resistance from private medical colleges/universities that have announced not to entertain candidates through centralized counselling conducted by the state government, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM) will start counselling for six medical colleges for the first time under one roof from Monday onwards.

Acting on Supreme Court

guidelines and following NEET-2016 inter-se merit list, MGM will hold counselling for 727 candidates, who registered for counselling on MP Online and were allotted seats in the chosen medical colleges.

Including MGM, nearly 124 seats each in five private medical colleges/universities will be filled through the centralized counselling on Monday. Centralized counselling coordinator, Dr. Sanjay Dixit said, “As per the directions from state government, centralized counselling for six medical colleges including MGM will start from Monday. Arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair counselling.”

When asked about resistance from private college/universities against the centralized counselling process, Dr. Dixit said, “There are clear directions from the state government that Supreme Court guidelines have to be followed. There is no confusion. Those who have been allotted seats in respective medical colleges as per their merit must report to the college for participating in the counselling.”
