airport is anticipated to rise by over 30 per cent in coming months with the increase in number of flights in the summer schedule.

As per the summer schedule effective from Sunday, daily flight movement from Indore airport including arrival and departure will increase to 86 from the present 76. The increase in the number of flight movements is expected to push passenger traffic at the airport to around 8,000 per day in coming months from the present average 6,000 passengers per day.

Sanjay Agrawal, officiating airport director Indore, said, “Currently there are 6,000 passenger movements on an average per day in arrival and departure combined which is expected to increase to 8,000 per day in coming months as daily flight movement has increased in the summer schedule.”

According to the airport authority, Indore airport operates direct flights to 22 routes that includes the newly added Indore-Gondia-Indore and Indore-Jammu-Indore added in the summer schedule.

In the domestic sector, Indore has direct flight connectivity to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Raipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bangalore, Lucknow, Allahabad, Surat, Ahmedabad, Kisangarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Gondia,

Belgaum

, Nagpur and Jammu.

The only international flight from Indore to Dubai operates once a week. As per the changed schedule, the flight will depart from Indore on Mondays and will return from Dubai on Saturdays.

Daily flight movement from Indore airport before the outbreak of pandemic was over 100 but many flight operations were suspended due to the pandemic. Now as per the summer schedule the operations are back to 86 movements per day.
