Accused of setting vehicles on fire fractures leg while evading police

Indore: An accused of setting vehicles ablaze outside houses in Prakash Ka Bagicha under Raoji Bazaar police station limits, allegedly ended up fracturing his own leg, while attempting a dramatic evade from the police.On receiving information about his presence near Juni Indore bridge, a police team rushed to apprehend him. "Spotting the police, Lakhan allegedly tried to flee and jumped off the bridge in a bid to escape. The fall resulted in a fractured leg, leaving him injured and unable to run further," said additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya.
Police subsequently took him into custody and initiated further legal proceedings in connection with the vehicle arson and other pending cases. On Monday, police took out a procession of the accused in the neighbourhood as part of the action taken in the case. On the intervening night of Feb 25 and 26, two two-wheelers parked outside homes in Prakash Ka Bagicha area were set on fire by an unidentified man. CCTV footage from the area helped police identify the suspect as Lakhan, a resident of Prakash Ka Bagicha. Police records indicate that more than 15 criminal cases were registered against him in the past.Four held for assaulting driver and vandalising car in LasudiaLasudia police arrested four youths for allegedly assaulting a car driver and vandalising his vehicle in the Lasudia area of Indore, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.Police said, 30-year-old Rajesh Chaudhary, a resident of Kalaria on Dhar Road, lodged a complaint stating that around 6:30 pm on Feb 26, he was returning home in his car when a motorcycle rider, accompanied by his associates, began riding recklessly near a school. One of them allegedly spat on the bonnet of his car. When Rajesh objected, the group abused him, assaulted him and demanded money for liquor. On his refusal, they allegedly damaged his car and threatened to kill him before fleeing. The entire episode was captured on video and later circulated online.Using the viral footage, police arrested the accused identified as Kuldeep, 18. He allegedly struck the car with a baseball bat, damaging the vehicle and injuring the driver. Police said he has previous cases registered at Chandan Nagar and Malharganj police stations.The other accused are Ujjwal Dubey, Shubham Gore and Vishal Chaudhary.
