80% RTE admissions completed in Indore, deadline extended to April 25

80% RTE admissions completed in Indore, deadline extended to April 25
Indore: Despite completion of the lottery process under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for admissions to 25 percent reserved seats in private schools, a significant number of allotted seats remain vacant in Indore district. As per the official report only 4,426 out of 5,417 allotted seats have been filled so far, leaving 991 seats vacant and bringing the admission rate to 82 percent.Education department had initially set April 15 as the last date for students to report to their allotted schools. However, due to low reporting not only in Indore but across the state, the deadline has now been extended to April 25. Authorities are hopeful that the extension will improve the reporting numbers and help fill most of the remaining seats.Ground realities indicate a lack of interest among several parents in admitting their children to the schools allotted through the lottery system. Officials noted that many parents had opted for reputed institutions as their first preference while filling out the forms. Since selecting three schools was mandatory, they also listed nearby schools where they were less inclined to seek admission. As a result, many have chosen not to complete the admission process.
In several mid-range private schools, not a single RTE seat has been filled so far. The department has now directed school authorities to actively reach out to parents and encourage them to complete the admission formalities. Once this phase concludes, a second round of lottery will be conducted to allocate the remaining vacant seats.District project coordinator Sanjay Kumar Mishra said, "With only two days left for reporting now, the department is trying to inform parents to report at the allotted schools for timely admission."
