4 held for renting and mortgaging vehicles for loans

Indore: Vijay Nagar police on Wednesday busted a gang and arrested four persons who had been renting expensive vehicles from well-known companies and mortgaging them for loans. Seven expensive vehicles were recovered from them.DCP Abhishek Anand said that they had received a complaint from one Govind Soni, 45, who claimed that the accused had rented an expensive four-wheeler from them and was not paying its rent nor returning it. It was found that the vehicle was not in Indore.Soni, who is from Gwalior, had brought his four-wheeler to Indore to put it up for rent. Here, he met his son’s friend Daksh Kumar alias Anshul. Anshul allegedly promised to pay Soni Rs 10,000 every 15 days for renting his vehicle. He gave two cheques of Rs 20,000 to Soni and took the vehicle, saying that he would put GPS in it the next day. After this, the accused stopped receiving their calls and did not pay the rent.Anand said that during investigation, it was found that similar crimes were committed by the accused with other persons ---Vinay Chari, Arjun Thakur Abhishek Tomar and Akash Verma as well.A team was formed to investigate the case. The accused Daksh Kumar and Shahbaz Khan were detained for questioning during which they accepted committing the crimes.“While in some cases they sold the vehicles to their counterparts in different cities by making a fake agreement, they also mortgaged some vehicles to get a loan. We have recovered seven such vehicles till now. The accused were produced before the court and taken on remand for more questioning. A case of criminal breach of trust has been registered against them,” said Anand. tnn
