INDORE: Four persons from Indore, including a cloth merchant, were killed while another was critically injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into an entrance gate in Maksi town of Shajapur district on Tuesday morning. The victims were on their way to offer special prayers at Shri Digambar Jain Atishaya Kshetra Maksi pilgrimage on Rang Panchami when the accident took place, about 75 km from Indore.
According to Maksi police station in charge SPS Sengar, at around 10 am, the speeding car hit the metal gate in a bid to save a motorbike rider near Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple at Jalapur Fata, just a short distance from the annual Rang Panchami fair at the famous Jain pilgrimage.
While one of the five men inside the car died on the spot, three others who were rushed to Dewas district hospital, were declared brought dead by the doctors.
The deceased were identified as 55-year-old Virendra Jain, a resident of Moti Mahal-Jawahar Marg, 50-year-old cloth merchant Dinesh Jain from Janta Colony (Mahalharganj), Khajuri Bazar resident Jambu Kumar Jain, 45 and Sanjay Jain, 38, a resident of Sudama Nagar.
Among the deceased, Jambu Kumar Jain headed the local office of Jain Pilgrims Society. 45-year-old Santosh Jain, a resident of Sudama Nagar, who was driving the car, sustained critical injuries. Santosh, who heads a Jain social group in Indore, is presently battling for life at a private hospital in Indore.
