Of the 35, 34 were sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment while sentencing for one is yet to be pronounced, government prosecutor Tarun Sharma said.

The court of additional sessions judge Lakshman Kumar Verma held 35 persons guilty under sections 147, 148, 150, 353, 332, 427, 435 and 34 of IPC for rioting, arson, and others crimes.

Thirty-eight persons had been arrested for rioting that occurred on Sept 3, 2010, at around 10 pm near Danipura mosque. Two of the accused had died during the trial and one was acquitted.

As per the state prosecution, after receiving information about the riots, a police team had reached the spot and tried to control the situation. The rioters, however, pelted stones at the police force and attacked them with weapons, injuring a couple of them. The rioters also damaged government vehicles and had resorted to arson. Later, the police registered a case in the matter and arrested 38 persons.
