Khargone: Thirty-two passengers were injured when a private bus crashed into a roadside house in Khargone district on Wednesday.
SDOP Shweta Shukla told mediapersons that the accident took place in Ojhra village of Kasrawad tehsil in the afternoon. "The bus, on way from Khargone to Indore, veered off the road and crashed into a house. The front portion of the bus was badly damaged and the passengers were thrown off their seats. The driver and conductor were also injured," she said.
Police and local administration teams rushed to the spot and all injured passengers were shifted to government hospital in Kasrawad.
Kasrawad block medical officer Santosh Badole told TOI that 32 people including 10 women and six kids were treated at community health centre and after primary treatment, 25 of them were referred to district hospital while one was referred to Indore.
Kshitij Gupta, a final-year engineering student who was in the bus, said that he was on wayto Indore to appear for an examination. "The bus suddenly lost balance and crashed with a strong impact. I was thrown up and hit the roof of the bus," he said, adding that the bus appeared to be moving slightly faster than normal.
SDOP Shukla ruled out the possibility of overloading, stating that the bus operates on an online booking system and was carrying passengers within its seating capacity. Police have registered a case
