Indore: Three persons, including husband of a Sarpanch in Silauda Panchayat of Khandwa, were thrashed allegedly by a group of people over a dispute about removal of encroachments from a government land, the police said on Monday.
Officials said that the incident was reported in front of the Silauda sarpanch Raziya Khan’s house on Sunday night, in which her husband Ajiz Khan, his brother and nephew were beaten up by their neighbours.
The accused were identified as Kalu, Ramesh, Dhan Singh, Bheem Singh, Rajendra, and Gaurishankar, the police said.
Sarpanch’s husband Ajiz Khan told the police that the accused Kalu and his relatives came to his house and started arguing with his nephew Sameer Khan on Sunday night.
He alleged that the accused were drunks, and when he and his brother tried to intervene in the matter, the accused attacked and thrashed them with wooden sticks. The accused have made illegal constructions on the land where an overhead tank has been planned by the panchayat, and he claimed the accused were irked over the plan of removing their encroachments.
