278 kg poppy straw seized in Neemuch

Indore: Neemuch Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) officials conducted a search at a dhaba on Neemuch-Mandsaur highway and seized 278 kg poppy straw and 2 kg opium along with 450 ibuprofen-paracetamol tablets and Rs 15 lakh on Wednesday. After receiving specific intelligence that residents of Aankali village in Mandsaur district were having poppy straw and opium hidden in their house and were involved in drug trafficking through Ludhiana-Punjab dhaba, a team of officers of CBN Neemuch, Mandsaur and Jaora were formed searched the premises.This resulted in recovery of total 278 kg poppy straw and 145 kg poppy straw powder along with 2 kg opium along with 450 ibuprofen-paracetamol tablets and Rs 15 lakh cash from the dhaba and the house. After completion of legal formalities, the recovered poppy straw and opium along with tablets and cash have been seized and two persons have been arrested under relevant provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. tnn
