Indore: Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Wednesday conducted a removal drive and demolished two multi-storeyed residential buildings in limits of Zone-3 that were in dilapidated condition. The driver started from Lodhi Mohalla area, where a 70-year-old structure was demolished by IMC. The structure belonged to Nitin Verma and it was earmarked as ‘most-dangerous’ building and posted a high risk of collapsing anytime, said officials.
A team of IMC’s removal wing reached the area at around 09.30am with 50 workers and officials, and started demolishing the structure. An earth mover was pressed into service and the structure was brought down within an hour. IMC's building officer (headquarter) Anup Goyal said that the building was listed as the most dangerous one for the last two years, and its owner was also issued notices on several occasions to vacate the building. “We had issued notices in the name of the building owner asking them to demolish it on their own, but they failed to do it. So we went ahead and demolished it from a safety point of view,” he said. TNN
