INDORE: Continuing its crackdown against bootleggers, Indore excise department on Saturday seized and destroyed as many as 125 litre of handmade illicit liquor and around 500kg raw materials including Mahua Lahan.

Rajeev Mudgal on Saturday carried out a raid in Banjari village, Sanjay Jalashaya and Bhondiya Nullah area of Mhow and Pithampur and seized a total 125 litre of handmade illicit liquor and around 500-kilogram raw materials including Mahua Lahan.
The team, after registering as many as eight cases under section 34(1) of MP Excise Act 1915, destroyed the illegal stuff at the spot.
Rathod claimed that under ongoing crackdown against bootleggers, the excise department has registered around 800 cases of transportation/sale/stock/preparing illicit liquor while appropriate actions have been taken against the accused.
According to the senior excise department, consumption of locally handmade or ‘Haath Bhatti’ liquor could pose very dangerous to health as no scientific formula is used in preparing the same while the same is not tested in the laboratory before selling to the customers and thus, it could many times prove deadly.
